The Head of Digital Products and Innovations for Airtel Nigeria, Oye Akideinde has averred that the synergy between diverse technologies is creating new opportunities.

Akideinde made this known as the lead discussant at the 5th edition of the Art Of Technology Lagos conference held on December 8, 2023 at the Landmark event center, Victoria Island, Lagos state.

The conference hosted a cross section of speakers gathered to discuss the emerging role of modern technological advancements like AI and Blockchain within the Nigerian Creative and Tech ecosystem. It highlighted a series of opportunities available within the tech conversation in Lagos state, which the speakers in attendance dwelt upon extensively.

The conference was also attended by eminent personalities including, the Governor of Lagos state Babajide Sanwo-Olu,Lagos state Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology Olatunbosun Alake, and the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy Dr Bosun Tijani.

Also in attendance were the General Manager Showmax Opeoluwa Filani, the founder KAP village Kunle Afolayan, the co-founder and the content chief of TechNext David Afolayan and others,

In his capacity as lead discussant, Oye Akideinde spoke on ways in which a middle ground could be met where creative endeavors within the African tech eco-system could be facilitated through initiatives revolving around solutions rooted in modern origins such as the ever evolving Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain technologies. Akideinde spoke extensively on the possibilities within such collaborative solutions as being the key to driving innovation and growth within the creative and technological ecosystems across Africa.

“The synergy between different technologies is creating new opportunities. Take, for example, the African Drone and Data Academy in Malawi. They’re merging drone technology with AI to innovate in film and photography”, he said. In his presentation, he connected the dots between creativity and technology through a robust presentation analyzing case studies across both creative and technological collaborations across Africa.

Oye Akideinde is responsible for the conceptualization, development, and execution of digital strategy and innovation in his capacity as the General Manager of Digital Products and Innovation at Airtel Nigeria. He operates with an eye to ensure a strengthened and well positioned product portfolio.
