In furtherance of its commitment to promote the vision of global peace by the United Nations, the International Association of World Peace Advocates, IAWPA, Oyo State has conferred Eminent Peace Ambassador award on the Proprietor of Markaz Rashid Quran Memorization Centre, Akobo, Ibadan, Alhaji Saleh Ibrahim-Ayede.
The conferment was in recognition of Ibrahim-Ayede’s numerous contributions to uplift social, economic and welfare conditions of the needy and the less privileged in the society was to deepen peace at the grassroots.
Speaking on the criteria for selecting and conferment of the award, Oyo State Director, IAWPA, Ambassador Musa Alongbija confirmed that Alhaji Ibrahim-Ayede has contributed immensely to helping the widows, orphans and the less privileged through his humanitarian foundation.
According to Dr Alongbija, the IAWPA is always striving to ensure peace in every corner of Oyo state, Nigeria and the world at large.
“The tripartite unique honour of award of Eminent Peace Ambassador, flag hoisting and affiliation of the school to the global community bestowed on Alhaji Ibrahim-Ayede is a rare feat befitting of people with good track record of ceaseless contributions to peace in the society “. Alongbija noted.
In his remark, the World Peace Spokesman, Ambassador Emmanuel Nkweke reiterated that the honour was conferred on Alhaji Ibrahim-Ayede in recognition of his contributions to the promotion of number four Sustainable Development Goals, which is quality education, and to encourage him to do more for peaceful and zero hunger in the society.
Ambassador Nkweke stated that the honour is also special as it confers status of authority and provides collaborative opportunity for the awardee with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural and Educational Organization, UNESCO as it places the school on global map.
In his acceptance speech, the Proprietor, Markaz Rashid Quran Memorization Centre, Akobo, Ibadan, Alhaji Saleh Ibrahim-Ayede said the honour will encourage him to do more for humanity.
Alhaji Ibrahim-Ayede who listed drilling of 10 motorized boreholes in different communities, scholarship for 43 orphans in his school, who enjoy free meal and free accommodation, feeding of the less privileged and building of 10 mosques to spread the propagation of peace as Islam preaches, free Quran memorization programme for students and outsiders among others as some of projects he had executed promised to do more with his new status as Eminent Peace Ambassador.
The ceremony had in attendance Assistant State Director, IAWPA, Ambassador Kikelomo Lawal, Ambassadors Muhydeen Ayede, Fakayode Fayemi, Awoniyi Amosun, Mogaji Ogunsola Anisere, Basirat Akinloye, and Comrade Olajumoke Kehinde featured the display, as an acceptance of the 17 SDGS by students of Markaz Rashid Quran Memorization Centre.
