Certificate saga: Anti-democratic forces at work – APC Secretary

Abia APC

…Says APC will take back Osun in 2026

Shina Abubakar, Osogbo

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Ajibola Basiru has disclosed that those working to truncate democracy in Nigeria were the ones raising baseless allegation on President Bola Tinubu’s academic qualifications.

This is as he disclosed that the party will sack Governor Ademola Adeleke as Osun state helmsman in 2026 as he has displayed lack of understanding of governance.

Addressing party faithfuls during a meeting at Oke-Baale in Osogbo at the weekend, the party scribe said elections are won or lost at the ballot and Nigerians have elected a President and the mandate still stands.

Those who are still talking about President Bola Tinubu’s certificate are chasing shadows after Chicago State University has certified and cleared the air on his attendance and graduation from the University.

The certificate saga is an attempt by some anti-democratic forces to truncate the civil rule having been rejected by Nigerians at the polls. The economic policies of the President will soon bear fruits, as Nigerians and  members, we should continue to mobilise and show support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

On the state of governance in the State, he  assured party members in particular and Osun people in general that APC will take over power in 2026.

He took a swipe at Governor Ademola Adeleke for deceiving the Osun people with an urban renewal project that has yet to manifest in the state, saying the much-mouthed borehole per ward is a fluke stressing that any government built on lies and propaganda is bound to crumble.

I use this opportunity to sympathized with Osun workers for being subjected to more hardship. What has Governor Adeleke done with the first tranche of N2billion from the Federal Government, when States such as Kwara, Ekiti, Ogun, Lagos, Imo, Anambra Kano and even Kebbi with war-ravaged Borno have made workers smile in addition to their salaries.

“I wonder if any Osun worker got as little as a cup from bags of rice Osun PDP got from the Federal Government. It is also regrettable that despite increment in allocation from the Federal Government to Osun, it has not reflected neither in workers’ welfare nor tangible projects for people”, he added.

However, Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in a statement issued by its Chairman, Sunday Bisi said Basiru is day dreaming about APC’s return to power, saying Governor Ademola Adeleke has rooted PDP in the hearts of Osun resident through good governance.

“The Governor has taken the initiative in keeping the public well-informed about the workings of the government as required in a democratic setting. Funds are being judiciously utilized for the good of the people contrary to ego massaging Administration of APC. Osun people are the kings in democracy and that pride of place remains non-negotiable.

“Yes, we are not unaware that Basiru is habitually inclined to politics of poverty in order to keep the people down to his apron of oppression, which he has enjoyed over time as an ungrateful opportunist. However, Osun people have since scaled up their taste bud against such a sad period of their history and they will not go back to it”, it reads partly.
