Hudu Yunusa Ari is a lawyer employed by INEC as Resident Electoral Commissioner for Adamawa. He was last seen, according to reports, flying away in a chartered aircraft while security agencies searched the ground in the bid to whisk him to Abuja for declaring unauthorised results.
The last we heard was that he spoke from his hide out. I am interested in this Ari matter because I have read about Alien Abductions in a book written by John and Anne Spencer. Titled ‘ The Encyclopedia of the World’s Greatest Unsolved Mysteries’, it was first published in 1995 by Headline Book.
The first case of Alien Abduction was recorded in Argentina. In 1957, farmer, Antonio Villas Boas said he was abducted by super beings who landed in an Unidentified Flying Object ( UFO ) and planned to use him as experiment in their unknown abode.
I have not come across Alien Abductions in Africa but I know that as Giants of Africa, big stories will always come out of Nigeria. We once woke up to hear that snakes swallowed millions of naira notes. People have also been caught hiding cash in water tanks.
Ari will have to tell us how outer space looks because that may be his home until this Binani matters dies down. Binani is indeed Aisha Dahiru Ahmed, the woman who would have become the first female elected governor in the country, until she was selected by Ari.
For daring to announce Binani of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the Adamawa Supplimentary Gubernatorial elections, Ari was almost skinned alive. His superiors in Abuja disowned and recalled him.
Then the man disappeared.
I know those who abducted Ari will not kill him. In Nigeria, disappearance makes sense once you smell trouble. Emmanuel Ifeajuna did in 1966. Dauda Usman and Clement Yildar followed in 1976. Ifeajuna fled to Ghana after the January 1966 coup. Usman and Yildar could have flown to the Moon.
In 1990, many fled after the Gideon Orkar Coup. Anthony Nyiam, Saliba Mukoro, Gilbert Edoja, Clement Obahor, Sowaribi Tolofari, Ben Oziegbe and Emma Okekumatalor disappeared. Chidi Obasi, A. H. Ogboru and S.O. S Echendu, joined them.
Those were officers who would have been executed for treason if caught. Ifeajuna returned and was shot on allegations of another plot in 1967. Usman and Yildar have not been found, at least, officially. Nyiam and Ovedje Ogboru are back and visible.
Before Ari, there was Abdulrasheed Maina, the man who was once given the responsibility of catching monkeys with bananas but ended up eating the bananas. His job as Chairman, Pension Reforms Task Team exposed him to money he could not resist.
When he was arrested, Senator Ali Ndume rallied round to meet bail conditions. Once free, Maina also disappeared. It took the International Police ( Interpol )to arrest him in Niger Republic. His guarantor would have been taken to the jail house.Maina was brought back to court.
The Division Police Officer for Apo, in the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) in 2005, Abdusalami Othman vamoosed from confinement after he was detained over the murder of the Apo Six. He excused himself to pray and from there his bid to escape justice worked.
Six young Nigerians, five men and one woman, were brutally silenced because one of them, Augustina Arebu refused the advances of a randy officer. Ifeanyi Ozor had taken his girlfriend who visited from Benin to a joint in Apo, Abuja.
Four friends accompanied them. That was how the lives of Chinedu Meniru, Anthony Nwokike, Paulinus Ogbonna and Ekenne Isaac were wasted. Othman is still a wanted man but believed to be alive somewhere in Kaduna earning a decent living.
Ari is singing from the moon, maybe, because the fact that he wrote a letter exonerating himself and blaming the National Commissioners for the Binani bingo show means that he is away from Planet Earth. You cannot be declared wanted and be operating from Nigerian territory.
If it turns out that Ari’s UFO landed in Nigeria, then the security agencies have no excuse not to go grab him. As Commander – in – Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari can still bark like a Parade Commander and bite like hyena.
We could then invite the Israeli Secret Service, Mossad once again. They were hired by Buhari in 1985 to crate Umaru Dikko from London to Lagos. Mossad almost succeeded but Dikko was just too lucky to escape abduction. That mission hurt relations with the United Kingdom.
Mossad did well in Argentina, bringing Nazi war criminals to answer for their atrocities during Holocaust. Only one of the mass killers, Martin Bormann managed to beat Mossad. His whereabouts remain unknown.
In 1960, Adolphus Eichmann was captured in Buenos Aires. In 1987, Josef Schwammberger was trapped. They got Paul Schafer in 2005. Josef Mengele played smart, disappearing from Argentina to Paraguay. He eventually drowned in Brazil.
This disappearing act should interest Nollywood. They have so much to learn from INEC and the Police. I won’t be surprised to see some of the expired governors in Vari’s UFO after May 29. From cocktail in power, they will serve us cock and bull, out of power.
