Bad boy roles excite me- Jonathan Georgewill

Only the role of a villain or bad boy appeal to him,one of Nigeria’s top professional emcees and emerging Nollywood actor, Jonathan Georgewill has said.

Georgewill, in a recent interview with Vanguard, said the villain role often has depth of character and elicits deep emotions , including a reservoir of pain and hatred.

“I love to be a villain, a mean guy. When characters have deep-seated issues, as most villains have, they aren’t typically afraid to show it. That means as an actor, I can have fun chewing the scenery and spouting all kinds of mischievous and nefarious vitriol,” Georgewill said.

He identified Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys as typical of the kind of movie he would love to feature in saying the villain character in that movie required the kind creativity that he can showcase.

“If I am going to go into the movie full-time, Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys is the role I’d love to play. As I said, I would love to play a villain; no time for a lover boy. I want to play somebody brutal, that’s why I love King of Boys. I wish I was a King of Boys, I know I would have been hated all over the world because of the craft I would have given that role, and viewers would be like, this guy is a devil.

“The character Scar played by Chidi Mokeme in the movie called Shanty Town is also another instance of a villainous character I’d love to act,” he said.

Georgewill is the founder of an Instagram live show for men’s issues called Mentenance

The programme takes an insight into all aspect of men’s life such as finances, family, career, mental health, business, love and other issues that concern men. It debuted in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown and has hosted the likes of Charley Boy, Alibaba and Seun Kuti among others.
