The sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, was Monday partially adhered to by Residents of the Abakaliki metropolis.
While major shops, eateries and business centres were closed to business, some filling stations and Point of Services, POS centres operated without hitch.
Driving around the capital city, one would observe that the usual rush hour that accompanies Monday activities wasn’t prevalent as residents were scarcely seen on the road going about their normal businesses.
A teacher (names withheld) who teaches in one of the popular schools in the State, told Vanguard how the school’s resumption was characterized by a low turnout of pupils.
“In fact, the turnout today was very low. I Am teaching in a class of 20 pupils but only 7 children came to school today.”
Vanguard investigation revealed that banks, motor parks, prominent Supermarkets, and shops along major streets in Abakaliki did not open for business in the State.
As of the time of this report, there was no reported incident of victimization by members of IPOB across the State.
