A group of environmentalists under the aegis of Niger Delta Environmentalists in Warri Delta State,NDEW, has urged the Interim Management Committee of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, to display confidence in the nation’s assembly over the alleged N40bn corruption probe.

In a statement signed by the Coordinator of the group, Luke Dombraye, explained that push by individuals to frustrate the Senate probe that is yet to commence noting that: ” The frequency with which press statements and paid advertorials are being published in national dailies could only suggest that those at the helms of affairs are already afraid of the Senate probe.

“the call that the senate probe should be made to cover 15 years existence of NDDC and not limited to the 6 months activities of the Interim Management Committee is a ploy to frustrate efforts to unearth the truths in the corruption allegation”.

“We find it disturbing that some had already concluded that the Senate probe would not be fair in its activities even when the panel members have not been chosen”.

The group maintained: “A clear conscience should not fear any accusation; Instead of bracing up to prove their innocence in the corruption allegation, they chose to splash the mud of corruption on National Assembly. This is unacceptable and diversionary”. the group stated.
