PORT HARCOURT – GOVERNOR Nyesom Wike has dropped murder charges against Rivers state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ojukaye Flag Amachree.
Justice J N Akpughunum of the State High Court in Port Harcourt, dropped the charges Tuesday, following presentation of a Nolly Prosee filed by the State Attorney General, Zacheas Adangor; through prosecuting counsel, Godwin Obla, SAN.
Obla said the state no longer has interest in the matter and filed to discontinue the case. Accordingly, presiding Justice Akpughunum then struck out the matter.
Responding, Emenike Ebete, lawyer to Flag Amachree said, “With this development, my client has no case to answer.”
The development may not be unconnected with Wike’s resolve to mend fences with opposition political leaders in the state as part of peace move.
Ojukaye Amachree, in a statement by his media aide, described the dropping of the charges as having vindicated him while also seeing it as a welcome development as the peace and development of Rivers was also of interest to him.
