Abakaliki—Ebonyi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said it has arrested 65 persons for their alleged involvement in drug peddling and racketeering between January to April 2019.

The command also arrested five suspects at the weekend and impounded 3.8 kg of cannabis when officials of the agency raided a community town hall located at Amaike Ezzangbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state.
The state deputy commander in-charge of Intelligence and Operations, Mr Ibrahim Bashir stated this when officials from the agency sealed off a community town hall where cannabis and other related drugs were stored.

He disclosed that 15 of the suspects were prosecuted within the last three months.
Bashir said the key suspect whose name is Amadi Chukwuma (male, 35 years) was held in the custody of the agency in addition to the exhibits.
According to him, the agency has been gathering intelligence reports and it is in that direction we have been carrying out of tasks of ridding the state of crimes.
