Ortom establishes clear lead in Benue guber race with results in 19 out of 23 LGAs declared

Governor Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party has established a clear lead and coasting home victorious in Saturday’s gubernatorial election held last Saturday in Benue state.

With the declaration of results still ongoing at the Benue state head office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Governor Ortom has so far polled 317,908 votes while the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Mr. Emmanuel Jime garnered 268,620 votes.

The tally of the votes indicated that the PDP candidate had established a lead with a total of 49,288 votes.

Out of the results from 19 local government areas so far declared by INEC, the PDP candidates won in nine while the APC candidate won in 10.

Results from four more local government areas are still being awaited, though these areas a known PDP strongholds which includes Okpokwu, Vandeikya, Kwande and Konshisha.
