The Katsina State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says it is rejecting in totality the results of the last Saturday’s presidential election in the state.

The party’s agent for the State Collation of the presidential election, Alhaji Salisu Majigiri stated this while addressing newsmen shortly after the close of the state collation centre for the presidential election, INEC headquarters in Katsina.
Majigiri based the party’s stand to reject the results on irregularities such as over voting, used of uncustomized election materials among others committed during the polls in some local government areas of the state which he said marred the whole electoral process.
According to him, “Take for instance, like in Kankara Local Government Area, some uncustomised result sheets are used to enter results, that are from INEC and supposely for the 2019 elections.
“In other places, there are so much of over voting in so many areas. So we have rejected the results entirely. Even though we have recorded improvement from the 2015 general election. In 2015 elections, APC scored 1.3million while PDP scored only 98,000. But for this 2019 general election, we have scored over 300,000 while APC scored 1.2million. So if you observed you will see that the APC have dropped by 100,000 and we have improved by over 200,000.

“We have raised so many objections during the collation, but they overruled us.
“The next line of action is the elections have not been declared, we are taking the issue to Abuja where the result is going to be collected. We have send a report to our National headquarters of the party that this is the way election is conducted in Katsina. We are not satisfied, we are rejecting the result entirely,” he said.
In a swift reaction, the All Progressive Congress, APC party agent, Ahmed Dangiwa said it is not aware of any irregularities but if the PDP has any contention, it should follow appropriate channels to address the issues.
“Well, I can’t say of any irregularities, because they can present that to INEC. And I’m sure INEC must have address any issue they would have raised in the collation exercise. If you know you have any contention of any other thing, you know the right channel to follow to address your issues,” Dangiwa said.
It would be recalled that results from the 34 local government areas of the state collated at the State Collation Centre for the Presidential election shows that APC’s President Muhammadu Buhari polled 1,232,133 votes to defeat the PDP’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar who scored 308,056 votes.
