Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has again come under attack over his alleged resort to brute force in his dealing with rivals and stakeholders in the state as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP yesterday accused him of breeding fake policemen for election purposes.

Led by former governor of the state, Ibrahim Idris, the party chieftains while briefing newsmen in Abuja yesterday, said despite crying out repeatedly in the past, the situation is getting worse in Kogi even as they called on the federal government to rescue the state from what it called a gradual slip into anarchy.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, Kogi state chairman of the PDP, Sam Uhuotu claimed that the party has some of its members through state sponspored violence, amongst sundry atrocities.

“For the umpteenth time, the Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is once again constrained to cry out to the security forces, the Nigerian public and the international community that we are still under siege. Indeed, the situation has deteriorated and is dangerously slipping into total anarchy.

The incidences of intimidation, brutality and unprovoked disruption of political meetings and gatherings have not abated but in fact, has worsened with ferocious intensity spreading across the state, as we move towards the general elections.

“The acts of intimidation and unleashing of terror by the APC have become increasingly brazen, reckless, monstrous and ominously dangerous. We believe that this sordid and unwarranted situation of a state-sponsored violence would have been effectively contained if the security agencies had heeded to our cry and indeed the cry of all Kogi indigenes to confront and check this monster, Uhuotu said.

The assertions were also reiterated in Lokoja the state capital by the Lokoja branch of the PDP which accused the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. James Apam of conniving with the state government to substitute ad-hoc staff for preferred acolytes of the APC.

The PDP has also asked for the transfer of the state’s commissioner of police Hakeem Busari for alleged bias.

The party in a statement signed by the Chairman of PDP in the council area, Mr. Idris Lokoja, also accused the REC of giving out the unclaimed PVC of the local government area to the ruling APC, describing his actions thus far as working to rig the elections just as was done in last year’s rerun election of Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency.

But the State governor, Bello through his Director General, Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo described the PDP allegations as falsehood.
