APC, Masari’s Chief of Staff, two others sweeps senatorial seats in Katsina

KATSINA – The All Progressive Congress, APC’s candidates filled for the Saturday’s National Assembly elections have sweep all the three senatorial seats in Katsina State.

Bello Mandiya, the Chief of Staff to Governor Aminu Bello Masari emerged winner for the Katsina South Senatorial district zone.

The returning officer for the Katsina South senatorial district, Aminu Dalhatu Kankia declared the APC’s candidate, Mandiya winner after polling 433,139 vote against Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s, Shehu Inuwa Imam who scored 158,081 votes.

Similarly, the returning officer for Katsina Central Senatorial district, Professor Rasheed Hamzat declared APC’s candidate, Engineer Abdullahi Kabir Barkiya winner after polling 340,800 votes to defeat his rival, Hamisu Gambo of PDP, who polled 124,372 votes in the election.

Barkiya was the Former Managing Director, Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA.

However, the returning Officer for Katsina North Senatorial district, Professor Ojonigu Friday declared Senator Ahmed Babba Kaita of the All Progressives Congress, APC winner of the Katsina North senatorial elections with 339,438 votes.

With this development, Kaita was re-elected for second term after flooring his opponents, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Mani Nassarawa and Accord Party, Hon. Lawal Nalado who scored 127,529 and 14,152 votes respectively.
