The Circulation Representative of Vanguard newspapers in Kaduna, Clement Olajide, yesterday, escaped death by the whiskers as soldiers deployed to enforce blockade of roads leading to the Kaduna High Court, where leader of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, was to be arraigned, fired several tear gas canisters at his car, while he was distributing yesterday’s edition of Vanguard newspapers.

Visibly shaken Olajide said the shell of tear gas canister missed his head by the whiskers and hit the dashboard of his car.

He explained that as he came out to find out what was going on, a group of soldiers swooped on him, before a superior officer restrained them when he discovered Olajide’s identity.

Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife were brought to court yesterday on charges preferred against them by the Kaduna State government, including culpable homicide and unlawful assembly.
