To foster the Nigeria-China relationship as well as contribute to the health care system in Nigeria, the Chinese Consulate has donated an auto hematology analyzer and a semi-auto chemistry analyzer to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
According to the Consul General of Peoples Republic of China China in Lagos, Mr. Chao Xiaoliang, the Lagos State University Teaching hospital is one of the leading hospitals in Lagos. “However, we are aware that the hospital is in urgent need for some medical equipment. I am a Lagosian and as a loyal citizen, I think it is necessary to do something for them.
“The equipment, which costs about seven million naira, was donated alongside other humanitarian aid. “I sincerely hope that these equipment will be put in full use by the doctors and can help more local patient.”
Xiaoliang added that since China and Nigeria face similar challenges in its health sector as most populous countries, they launched programmes in the health cooperation on humanitarian grounds to benefit locals.
In appreciation the Acting Director, Clinical Services and Training, Dr. Tunde Odusote said that visiting the hospital shows that they value the level of service they are offering to both Nigerians and the Chinese community in Lagos.
“With the impact we have made, they also think it is right to partner with us. They actually made inquiry to know what is of benefit to us and this has been done to increase our capacity care for the Nigerian people and the Chinese community. This equipment will help us diagnose people better and run tests at a very short notice.”
