Yobe State Governor, Gaidam
DAMATURU – Yobe Governor Ibrahim Gaidam has approved the promotion of 2,149 public secondary school teachers in the state.

The executive chairman of Yobe state Teaching service Board Alh. Baba Maidala explained this to Vanguard in his office in Damaturu Monday , that the promotion had cleared the backlog inherited in the state secondary schools.

He said about 875 non academic staff of the secondary schools were also promoted .

The chairman said the promotion which was long overdue were based on the performances , years of service and their qualification

He urged successful teachers not to rest on their oars , but rather let their promotion spur them to do more in the service .

” The disciplinary committee set up by the yobe teaching service board , headed by Alh. Kachalla Mustapha , a retired permanent secretary to checkmate the activities of errant teachers has punished about 52 teachers on various offences ranging from truancy and insubordination ” he said.

The 52 teachers were either queried, suspended , warned or outright stoppage of salary after facing the disciplinary committee which found them wanting .

He urged the teachers to renew service delivery to manifest efforts of the government to improve the standard of education in the state
