Rep empowers constituency to create wealth

LAGOS—A member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Rotimi Agunsoye has empowered the youths of Kosofe Federal Constituency with skills and tools that will avail them the opportunity to care for their family and contribute to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria.

Speaking during the distribution of empowerment tools, Agunsoye said that his empowerment programme has successfully trained another 200 youths in various aspects of skill acquisition, ranging from hair stylists, cinematography, solar power technicians artists, make-up among others.

He said that the exercise, which was in line with his programme, tagged:  ‘Kosofe Federal Constituency Empowerment and Wealth Creation’, was essentially targeted at getting as many of the youths on a range of skill acquisition programmes.

Agunsoye said: “Today, in continuation of our empowerment programme, we are going to be empowering the constituency youth with tricycles, motorcycles, fashion design equipment, hairdressing and barbing kit, catering equipment, popcorn machine, computers and printing machines, GSM repair kit, generators, welfare package for men and women among others.

”In 2016, we carried out empowerment programme for 200 graduates in different categories such as ICT, agriculture, fashion design, catering and hotel management, interior design among others.

“This empowerment is one of our strategies at attacking the scourge of poverty and unemployment among our teeming youth. Knowledge, as we all know, is the greatest gift to mankind and without a foundation of knowledge, human progress will be an arduous undertaking.”

Party chairman commends Agunsoye

On his part, the chairman of All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Mr. Tunde Balogun commended the lawmaker for contributing positively to the development of his constituency and Lagos.

He, however, encouraged constituency members to participate in government at all levels, saying “such participation allows us to determine those we elect into office. Therefore, we all need to register to vote. It is our right.”
