The refuse dump where the lifeless body of the baby was found

CALABAR—A female pastor has warned against the dangers of dumping newborn babies in pit toilets.
Pastor Joy Ilozobe of Christ for the World Mission, Calabar, Cross River State, who stated this in the light of frequent cases of child abandonment in the city, said that child abandonment was morally, spiritually and culturally wrong, stressing that every mother should in no circumstance dump her baby into a toilet, but should rather hand over the baby to someone who cares or take the child to the church for adoption.
Pastor Ilozobe, who spoke at the Calabar Orphanage, yesterday, when her father, Dr Nick Eze, President of Christ for the World Mission, visited the place as part of his annual routine to donate materials to the home to mark his birthday, noted that such acts were inhuman and should be stopped.
“I have always accompanied my father to this place during his annual visit to widows and orphanages to donate materials to them to mark his birthday and each time we come here, the number of abandoned babies keeps increasing and we hear many die before they are found and it is very disheartening,” she said.
