Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and former Delta State governorship aspirant, Chief Sunny Okpako Onuesoke, has welcomed defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the party, but cautioned that their defection to the PDP was not a yardstick for automatic ticket for elections or appointive positions in the party.

Onuesoke, who spoke while responding to questions from newsmen at the Abuja airport, yesterday, stated that what played out in the National Assembly, last Tuesday, did not come to him as a surprise because he was expecting the defectors to come back to the party.

“In my presentation in January, I said the PDP will become the majority party in the National Assembly before the primaries for the 2019 elections”, he said.

“What is playing out now is a replay of the 2014 episode by the political elite against former President Goodluck Jonathan because the same people who decamped on Tuesday were
same persons who did so in 2014.”
