Brethren, we thank God for what he has been doing for us during this month of perfection, July. By His grace, he will perfect everything concerning us this month in Jesus name.
My prayer for you this morning is that the particular bundle of joy that you have been expecting will reach your hands this month in the name of Jesus.
Today, we are starting off on a different note and that is the need to pray for our country. We cannot have joyful homes in the midst of wars, spilling of human blood , kidnapping, rape and other such vices that are sins before the Almighty God. When our country is at peace, it is then that our homes will be at peace and we shall fully enjoy the blessings of the Lord.
Brothers and sisters, do you really trust God? At your sober moments, I mean when you are alone, have found time to critically examine yourself, please find time to do so. When you are alone, do you ever ask yourself, what could I have done that is hindering my miracle?
Why is this necessary? It is because sometimes, when we attribute our challenges to the forces of darkness, it is not entirely so. There are situations where we have by ourselves consciously or unconsciously taken steps that have continued to work against us.
I’ll give a few examples. Many of us put so much trust in human beings and not God. There was a certain Mr. A , who wanted favour from Chief X who was highly connected in the society. Mr. A wanted Chief X to link him through steps that could lift him up financially. Truly, Chief X was in a position to do so. Mr. A spent so much time speaking with the Chief on the phone and sending SMS but he never found time to ask God for help.
Everything seems to be going on well as the Chief gave Mr. X an appointment to meet him so that they could meet those who would give him the contract he wanted so badly.
On the set day of appointment, an eager Mr. A left home early. As he approached the Chief’s house, he saw an unusual group of people outside the home. It didn’t mean much to him since the chief always had people around him but Alas ! as he got into the building, he was told the Chief, died in his sleep the previous night.
I leave you to imagine the end of the story.
On the other hand, another Mr. C in a similar situation, also contacted someone who could help him achieve his financial aim but he spent more time praying and asking God to please remember him. Mr. C’s contact hardly replied SMS messages, neither did he respond to Mr. C’s call but one day after about five years of waiting, indeed, Mr. C had gone to do something else, his contact man called him and helped him. That help changed Mr. C’s story.
Brethren, the difference in these two cases is that the one who spent more time crying to God received the mercy of God . In other situations, we know within us sins that we have committed could have become obstacles to our progress.
The good news though is that , no sin is too big to be forgiven. Only if we show remorse and repent. Even when we do this, we must know that sins have consequences.
Remember, David’s adultery with Bath-sheba and the word of God from Pastor Nathan. 2nd Samuel 12 vs. 9 “ Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? Thou has killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon”.
The consequence- Verse 10 -12of the same chapter, “ Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house ; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the Lord , Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour , and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel , and before the sun”.
Let’s see the reaction of David in verse 13 of the same chapter that indeed is our key point, “ And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, the LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die”.
Let’s compare David’s reaction with that of Eli when God told young Samuel of his annoyance with Eli. 1st Samuel 3 vs. 11 – 19. For this purpose, we’ll consider verses 13 and 18.
Verse 13 God speaking to Samuel about Eli “ For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not”.
Now Samuel to Eli verse 18 “ And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good”.
Brethren you can see the difference. What is your own attitude? Are you honest enough to examine yourself, admit your sins , show remorse and repent?
It is in your interest to do this. No Pastor or Woman of God can do this for you. You have to do it yourself. Then and only then can you receive the mercy of God.
David received the mercy of God, you too can. After David and Bath- Sheba lost their first child, as a consequence of sin, God showed mercy. 2nd Samuel 12 vs. 24 “ And David comforted Bath-Sheba his wife, and went into her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the Lord loved him”. Solomon later became King.
Have you engaged in backbiting and destroying others to get to the top, have you had series of abortions before getting married, have you as a man funded abortions of ladies you had relationships with before you got married? Have you visited an herbalist and made incisions to achieve certain goals? You know what you did secretly that is working against you. God can still have mercy on you.
In the name of Jesus, you will receive the mercy of God. Follow the steps of David and get a dream- like miracle.
Let’s end this with a testimony from Winners’ Chapel . “ About a year ago, when I was leaving the house, the Holy Spirit ministered to me to package all the negative medical reports to the church to see the bishop. (Not the G0). I laid the catalogue of negative reports on Bishop X’s table and he was taken aback. Then he prayed on all the reports and cancelled them spiritually. The Bishop told me that even fibroid itself knows that there is a specialist in the house and he declared that “ there is a baby in your womb”.
She following month, she conceived and eventually , had a baby boy.
Put your trust in God, take a critical assessment of your actions, repent and ask for his mercy. Our unlimited God will give you a report that will make you laugh.
Remain unshaken; your victory is around the corner.
May the presence of the Lord be with you at all times.
