Shell Group builds integrated science lab for Arochukwu school

UMUAHIA- AS part of its social responsibilty, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company of Nigeria Limited, SNEPCo, has built an ultra-modern laboratory to Aggery Memorial (Model) College, Arochukwu, which was founded by the famous educationist, the late Alvan Ikoku.

Handing over the well equipped laboratory block to the management of the college, the Managing Director of SNEPCo, Mr. Bayo Ojulari explained that the science block was built in collaboration with NNPC and other partners, including Esso Exploration and Production Company [Deepwater], Total E and P Nigeria Limited and Nigerian Agip Exploration Ltd.

Represented by Engr. Segun Owolabi, the company’s Business Manager, Ojulari said: “The project aims to promote educational excellence in the sciences and is part of our larger educational support programmes to help Nigerian youths and support the government in the task of providing high quality educational facilities in public schools.

“The laboratories are fully furnished and equipped with modern science equipment and sufficient laboratory chemicals that would serve the school for a minimum of two years.

“The facility will promote teaching and learning of science subjects and provide a conducive learning environment to stimulate students’ interest. Our hope is that this project will help in no small measure to prepare more Nigerian students for the anticipated technological take-off in the nation.”

Ojulari also explained that the group has had a long history of supporting education because “we believe this is a bridge to a prosperous future”.
