
Darah
The Conference Center of The Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun on Wednesday 16th May played host to Nigerians from all walks of life who came to honor one of Nigeria’s most enduring scholars and public intellectuals, Professor G. G. Darah who recently retired from the Delta State University, Abraka, on the attainment of the retirement age of seventy.

The book titled Scholarship and Commitment: Essays in Honour of G. G. Darah was edited by the trio of Sunny Awhefeada, Enajite Ojaruega and Peter Omoko, and published by the Lagos based publishing outfit Malthouse.
The event which began at 11a.m. was chaired by Chief James Onanefe Ibori, former Governor of Delta State, while the incumbent Governors of Delta and Bayelsa States, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and Rt. Hon. Seriake Dickson featured as Special Guests of Honour.
Ambassador Olatokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu and Dr. Cecilia Ibru were also Guests of Honour while His Royal Majesty The Ohworode of Olomu was the royal father of the day. The lecture and book review was done by Odia Ofeimun while Professor Sunny Akpotor, Dr. William Ehwarieme and Yinka Odumakin served as discussants.
