President Muhammadu Buhari who arrived Abuja on Thursday night has on Friday afternoon headed to Daura for the ward congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reports have it that Mr. President has arrived Daura.

President Muhammadu Buhari returns to Abuja after a successful outing with the President of the United State Donald Trump in Washington DC.

Recall that APC had fixed May 5 for the ward congress and had equally fixed the local government area (LGA) and state congresses for May 12 and May 19 respectively.

Mr. President who had a technical stopover was berated by the opposition party, PDP who accused Buhari of violating the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

PDP’s argument was that Mr President failed to inform the national assembly before his trip to US on Trump’s invitation.

In a statement it sent through its publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party described Buhari’s visit to Trump as an embarrassment and fruitless outing, noting that Buhari detoured to the UK for another private visit without regard to full disclosure requirements of our constitution and laws.

But in a counter response from the Presidency, Mr. Garba Shehu said, “The big jet is under repairs. It has been taken for major repairs. So the President is using a small plane and there is a limit to the distance the small plane can cover.

“So the technical stopover I talked about is that the journey from US to Abuja is broken into two. Technical stopover is that the plane stops at a point, refuel, do some checks and then proceed on the journey.

“This is very normal. There is nothing unusual about it. In any case, they are already on their way back home.

“It is a routine thing. The plane can do Abuja-Washington, that’s about 12 hours and the maximum the plane can fly is 12 hours, 40minutes. But you don’t need to push it to the edge”, he said.
