Manufacturers under the aegis of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, Ikeja branch has urged the Lagos State government to review downward the over 150 percent increment on the Environmental Development Levy and Petroleum Permit payable to Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA.
Chairman, MAN Ikeja branch, Otunba Francis Meshioye, made the call at the association’s 2018 Managing Directors/Chief Executive Officers breakfast meeting in Lagos.
Meshioye also called on the state government to harmonise the periodic environment audit report review to three years as done by National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, NESREA.
He argued that the biennial review of the environment audit report as against three years review by NESREA comes at a huge cost to the manufacturers.
According to him, the various reviews would enhance the ease of doing business in the state and provide an enabling environment for industries to thrive and create jobs for the teeming jobless youths.
