Laments ex-gov Doma’s death

LAFIA—GOVERNOR  Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has admonished politicians to put behind them electoral issues,  unpleasant experiences during elections as a way for peaceful co-existence in the country.

Speaking yesterday at the burial ceremony of the late former governor of the state, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma, Al-Makura stated that the inability of  the political class to forget and forgive their opponents was largely responsible for the political instability, hate speeches and other issues threatening the nation’s peace.

Describing the death of Akwe-Doma,  his predecessor as a  personal loss, Al-Makura also  described  Doma as a ‘galvanizer’ of self reliance and an advocate of peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance.

According to the governor,  the loss of Akwe-Doma was a personal one given their close relationship, adding that ”the second civilian governor of  the state worked tirelessly for four years to galvanize the people towards self reliance, progress and peaceful coexistence.”
