THE General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye with his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Foluke Adeboye in tow, chose the midnight hour on February 28 to visit the historic 76 Hours Marathon Messiah Praise designed to praise God in diverse ways to mark his 76th birthday anniversary.

The non-stop praise extravaganza, first of its type in the world, that was flagged off at the church’s Youth Centre in the Redemption Camp at 11.00 a.m. on Monday, February 26 which took place in 20 different nations of the

world including US, England, Canada, Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Sweden, South Africa, Kenya, Malaysia, Belgium and many other nations featuring over 140 worship leaders/choral groups and gospel artistes.

Pastor Adeboye sauntered into the Youth Centre main venue with his wife at about 23.53 p.m. and offered prayers for the participants in turns, saying “the One who called me will answer your prayers, give you breakthrough and keep evil from you; He will give you testimony. This year in particular, the power of the Holy Spirit will fall on you.

The anointing of God will drive away evil power and move you from glory to glory; from progress to progress. From this very moment the wind of the Holy Spirit will blow for your progress,” and the youths present chorused AMEN!

Thereafter the twosome proceeded to cut anniversary cake before retiring to their home in readiness for the D-Day, March 2, the actual birthday.

The theme of this year’s Marathon Messiah’s Praise is “The Great Redeemer” which is a reflection of the miraculous and unquestionable way that God has brought Pastor Adeboye thus far and the ability of God to use Marathon

Messiah’s Praise to birth a new pattern of Praise/Worship in this age.

Artistes that ministered at the Nigerian main Centre and the other satellite stages included Pastor Kunle Ajayi, Nathaniel Bassey, Bukola Bekes, Bidemi Olaoba, Ejiro, Dare Justified, Big Bolaji, Bola Are, Tosin Bee, Ifeoluwa Odogiyan, Femi Okunuga, Mairo Ese, Sister Nkechi, Efe Nathan, Beejay Sax, Toyin Oluwatusin, Fola-kemi Oyetunde, Wa-le Ayeni, Tolucci, Tee Worship, Seun Showa, Rebecca Ogolo, Lolade Ade-leke, Lilian Nneji, Sunday Peters, Sho-la Sax, Kunle Kenny, Taiwo Wemimo, Ko-ke Michael, among others.

About seven years ago, Marathon Me-ssiah’s Praise, the world’s longest non-stop annual gospel musical event began at the Redemption Camp, along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway. It was organized by the church’s Youth and Young Adults Department with two objectives: as a birthday gift to appreciate God for His mercies and faithfulness over the life of the General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Adeboye; and as a gospel musical event that will birth a new pattern of worship in this dispensation.

Since inception in 2012, six successful editions have so far been held from 70 Hours Marathon Messiah’s Praise to 71 Hours, 72 Hours, 73 Hours and 74 Hours, 75 Hours. Today, Marathon Messiah’s Praise has become an annual event that is growing in leaps and bounds. It expanded to other nations

outside Nigeria in 2016 as 74 Hours Marathon Messiah’s Praise (themed PRAISE BEYOND BORDERS) was held across three countries on two differ-ent continents to become a global event.

And last year, at the 75 Hours Marathon Messiah’s Praise (themed SOVEREIGN GOD) was held across eight count-ries on five different conti-nents and this year’s edition with a theme, THE GREAT REDEEMER came to an end at 3.00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 with the Special Assis-tant to the General Overseer (Admin/Personnel), Pastor Johnson Odesola taking the closing prayers before the biological children of the celebrant cut the anniversary cake on behalf of their father.
