Also, former governor of the state, Dr Peter Odili, who hails from Ndoni district, said that Governor Wike, by his action, has wiped off a 10-year old tear from his eyes.

Flagging off the construction of the shore protection works at Ndoni, yesterday, Governor Wike said that the project will help protect the communities from the devastating effects of the River Niger.

He directed the Permanent Secretary of the Special Projects Bureau to relocate to Ndoni district to ensure the progress of work and the completion of the shore protection works within the scheduled time.

The governor directed that  the contractor should conclude the soil test in the area by the end of this month, so that construction work can start by January 2018.

He said: “When your father starts a project, it behoves you to complete the project.  We shall drive the shore protection works to completion.  All the remaining communities mentioned by the Caretaker Committee Chairman of ONELGA will be added to this project.”
