UGHELLI—CHAIRMAN, Committee on Works in Delta State House of Assembly,  Evance Ivwurie, has raised the alarm that his life is in danger as a contractor (name withheld) who his committee ordered to refund monies paid to his company, allegedly threatened to kill him.

Ivwurie, who is also the member representing Ethiope East in the House, explained that he has briefed his lawyer and is also appealing to security operatives to ensure the safety of his life and members of his family.

The lawmaker, in a statement yesterday, also denied media reports that he made “unholy demands” from the contractor saying: “I dare him to make public the CCTV footage which he claims to have, as was published in some sections of the media. Such demand as allegedly claimed by the contractor, would only have been made in his own imagination and I urge him to explain what he meant by unholy demands.

“I have made public the text messages he sent to me, offering me and members of my committee “Welfare Package” to compromise us which I rejected in my reply text to him. When his attempts to compromise the committee failed, he resorted to character assassination and made threats to my life.”
