The State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ini Ememobong, who chided the leadership of APC, for not preparing adequately for the election, said the APC had no justifiable reasons to reject the election which was adjudged the fairest and most peaceful by local and international observers.
He claimed that the leaders of APC spent the useful time they should have used for campaign to seek court injunctions to restrain the Akwa Ibom state Independent Electoral Commission from conducting the election while PDP was on door to door campaign.
Ememobong said, “the APC should not be calling for the cancelation of the same local government election that they didn’t prepare for just because their candidates lost out in the election. While the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) started its Local Government election campaign one month before the election. APC leaders were in court filling court process to restrain AKISIEC from conducting the election.
“APC have no reason to complain about the outcome of the election result because the the leadership of the party didn’t prepare or showed any commitment towards the election.
“You know that the PDP is the ruling party in the state with tremendous support from the electorate. We still campaigned for votes, we undertook door to door campaigns in the 31 local government areas of the state while the APC was waiting for a court ruling.”
