IGP reads riot acts to politicians, policemen

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris  has warned politicians and policemen against anything capable of derailing today’s governorship election in Anambra state. Idris who sounded the warning while addressing officers and men of the force who were deployed to the state for the election, said he would not tolerate any failure on the part of any personnel during the all-important exercise.

Idris who disclosed that a total of 26,000 policemen were deployed to the state for the election, led by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG in-charge of Operations at the force headquarters, to be assisted by an Assistant Inspector-General and three Commissioners of Police, said everybody must be neatly dressed in police uniform.

He warned against collecting money from any politicians and compromising, adding that any one caught would be severely dealt with. He also warned against indiscriminate shooting of people at the polling booths without instruction from their superior officers.
