The Minister of Communication ,Barr Adebayo Shittu says the ministry is currently deploying ICT to drive the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, ERGP being an enabler of every economic growth and development.

Barr. Shittu, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Abdullahi Mashi disclosed this at the opening of the technical session of the 5th  General meeting of the National Council on Communication Technology, NCCT holding in Katsina State with the theme: “Harnessing ICT as the main tool for driving the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan”.

He said that ICT being an enabler of economic growth and development was envisaged to drive the successful implementation of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) if harnessed effectively and efficiently.

He said it was crucial for the meeting of officials, to carry out robust deliberations and recommend decisions that would translate in policies that would ensure  a successful implementation of the ERGP.

The Permanent Secretary also disclosed that the major attraction of this year’s council meeting is the “ICT Peer Review Day.”

He said that the event would give states the opportunity to showcase ICT activities in their various states, particularly success stories in their application of ICTs in solving governance and development issues.
