PORT HAR-COURT—The leader of Arewa Initiative for Peaceful Co-existence in Southern Nigeria, Alhaji Musa Saidu, has expressed displeasure over the level of abandoned Niger Delta Development Commission’s, NDDC, projects in the oil-rich region.

Saidu, who spoke in Port Harcourt, yesterday, regretted that the main essence for the establishment of NDDC has been defeated, alleging that money meant for projects allocated to the commission are being mismanaged by some political big wigs.

Saidu said: “I am very worried because the main reason for the establishment of NDDC which is for the development of the Niger Delta has been defeated. Instead of seeing good projects, the area has been littered with abandoned and uncompleted projects.

“This is bad because it is only causing agitations in the region. The commission has been politicized. There is need for the president to probe all the projects that have been awarded in that institution.’’

The leader urged President Buhari not to extend the tenure of the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, noting that any attempt to extend the tenure would spark crisis in the region.
