He stated this in Benin City at the 2017 NNPC Health Safety Environment, HSE, Week held at the headquarters of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC.
The GMD who was represented by the General Manager Health Safety Environment, Maxwell Ogoh who also stood in for the Managing Director of NPDC, Yusuf Matashi said his management has designed HSE into every project embarked upon by the company, adding that “good HSE is not the number of injured staff you treat, the number of accidents you recover from or the number of fires you extinguish, good HSE is successfully avoiding those incidents in the first place. Good HSE is not a waste of time or resources.
“Rather, it is safer for resources and time and protecting the environment. Management at all levels should begin to measure and celebrate incident of free man hours as well as exemplary HSE performance in addition to planning and execution of proactive HSE measures.”
