Owerri—A community leader in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, Mr. Onyekachi Elezianya, yesterday, called on the South-East governors to establish development fund for the region to quell the agitations by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Elezianya made this statement in Owerri as part of solutions to the unending agitations by pro-Biafra groups.
He said: “IPOB is shouting, the other groups are shouting. What are our South-East governors doing? You can see what happened in the National Assembly; how they threw away the development commission bill for the region.
“It appears that here, we are not organised. Let us tell ourselves the truth. What they need to do is sit down and create South-East Development Fund and appoint somebody to be in charge.
“If they contribute N200,000,000 monthly, the five South-East states can raise a substantial amount in a year.
“With this amount, and with a coordinator at the centre, we can do better things for the South-East region. Before you know it, the issue of IPOB agitations will be addressed holistically.”
