Owerri—Coalition of Civil Society Organizations, CSOs, for   Nigeria Women for Peace ,yesterday, called on the authorities to make available positions for women, to be part of the process of dialogue to end the various agitations in the country.

Speaking to Vanguard in Owerri, on the role of   women in the country’s challenges, the communication officer for Alliance for Africa, Chiwendu Anozie, along side others, defined women as being naturally peaceful.

Anozie revealed that it was for this reason that the first ever WhiteBlouseDay campaign was held on October 1st.

According to her, “ We have observed, an increased wave of hate speech and inciting statements, an increased spate of violent conflicts around the country.

“And that women, who bear the brunt of the violent conflicts, are not consulted when ethnic, religious and political groups publish their statements which threaten the peace and security of Nigerians.

“And despite almost two decades of activism, women are not proportionally represented in politics, peace,security, decision making and good governance.

“For this reason, we demand immediate cessation of all hostilities across the country and a demand for all  stakeholders and state actors to begin a process of escalating dialogue that will include women in proportional representation as active   participants, negotiators, referees, observers and peace keepers.”
