Jos—Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC, yesterday, released the timetable for the long-awaited local government election.

In a statement by PLASIEC Chairman, Mr. Fabian Ntung, the commission said the election will hold on February 17, 2018, while a run-off and/or re-run, if any, will hold on February 24, 2018.

He said: “Campaigns commence from Friday, September 29, 2017; party primaries, October 13 to 27, 2017; verification/screening of chairmanship candidates, November 13 to 15, 2017; verification/screening of councillorship candidates, November 16 to 20, 2017; and end of electioneering campaign is Friday, February 16, 2018, by 12 midnight.”
