MAIDUGURI—Borno State government is constructing boarding primary and secondary schools for over 56,000 orphans whose parents were killed by the Boko Haram insurgency.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Musa Kubo, who disclosed this at a briefing to mark the press week of Borno State Council of Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Maiduguri, said the schools are located in Gomari area, Baga Road By-Pass and 303 Estate, in addition to some other ones to be established in liberated local governments.
He said twenty 2,000-capacity mega schools will be constructed across the state.
The commissioner said Borno State University had reached 85 percent completion and will soon commence academic activities for 2017/2018 session.
