Adeleke Varsity employs physically challenged graduate

THE Pro-Chancellor of Adeleke University Ede, Osun State, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, has given automatic employment to a physically challenged graduate of the varsity, Miss Odemo Sherifat.

Addressing the 2017 graduands at the third convocation ceremony held at the permnanent site of the varsity, Adeleke also announced that Odemo has been awarded full scholarship to do her master’s degree programme in the institution.

Odemo, of the Department of Political Science, who was one of those already enjoying Adeleke’s  scholarship, came out with second class upper division.

Adeleke also charged all well meaning Nigerians on the need to always assist the less privileged in pursuing their goals in life, stressing that many minds are wasting simply because they lack financial capacity.

He said: “A mind is a terrible thing to waste and that is why I have been looking for ways to give back to the society. One of the aims of this school is to give hope to the hopeless and the less privileged in society.  82% of the students in this institution are on scholarship and I know that what they have enjoyed here they will replicate in the society.”

The institution produced 18 first class, 124 second class upper, 78 second class lower and 14 third class students.

Addressing the gathering,   the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Ekundayo said the university has made a landmark achievement in converting waste to wealth.”

“Formulation of bio-insecticide, bio-preservative and dish-washing liquid from metabolites of cyanide degrading bacteria from fermented cassava waste water and soil site of cassava waste water”.

The occasion which was attended by the former deputy governor of Osun State, Mr. Iyiola Omisore, also had in attendance former Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Adejare Bello, Senator Ademola Adeleke among others
