ASABA—THE Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has warned beneficiaries against selling off inputs given to them under its Anchor Borrowers Progra-mme, insisting that anyone caught would be made to face the wrath of the law.
CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele
Issuing the warning at an emergency meeting with Anchors, Cooperative Chairmen, Input Suppliers and Farmers in Asaba, Delta State branch Comptroller of CBN, Dame Elizabeth Oyibi-Agu, told stakeholders of the programme in the state to double their commitments towards its success in the state.
Agu lamented that the programme, which started in February 2016, was still battling with first batch when it was supposed to be preparing for the third.
She said: “The current trend of feed selling in Camp 74, Ughelli, Sapele and Warri is another sad development. There are also reports of some farmers selling the supplied juveniles.
“This is a criminal act and an insult to the good intentions of the Anchor Borrowers programme.”
