Agu who kept for Super Eagles in the 90’s, disclosed that he and coach Gernot Rohr have held positive discussions with Enyeama who quit the team in 2016 after altercations with former Coach Sunday Oliseh.
This is coming on the heels of a seeming goalkeeper crisis facing the team following revelations that Carl Ikeme who proved to be a good replacement for Enyeama is down with Leukemia, a bone marrow disease, which affects the production of red blood cells.
“I am praying to God to heal Ikeme and also Enyeama who is fast recuperating from injuries. We need them both back to the Super Eagles fold.
“Before the match against South Africa, Rohr and I had a good discussion with Enyeama. And I am expecting him to make a strong comeback to the team. I have seen sports men go and come back from retirement to do great things. I am hopeful that Enyeama will make a comeback to the fold,” Agu said yesterday.
However, he said, “we have other keepers we are training. Daniel Akepyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Alampasu are equally good, they can perform to standard in our qualification campaigns and by God’s grace we will qualify.”
