On Tuesday, the Board’s team led by the Director, Operations of the Board, Barr Chiedu Okolue visited Government Secondary School, Ushafa, Abuja.
In his introductory remarks to students and teachers of the school, Okolue introduced his audience to media education with emphasis on films and video works. He made it clear that the students, being impressionable minds, need to be careful in selecting films and video works they watch.
According to him, the board classifies movies according to age and this is to make it easier for everyone to know what movie is suitable for any age. He further stressed that watching bad movies can lead to drug addiction and other dangerous life styles or death and advised the students to always watch only movies classified for their ages.
To further spice the event, the board engaged the students in a game titled “balloon challenge”. The game is designed to facilitate bonding and love among students.
The board also informed the students that the Board in collaboration with Google is planning a programme – “Web Ranger”. The programme will take place in the United States of America sometime this year and about 100 students from Nigeria are expected to participate in the programme. It would be recalled that the Board under the new leadership of Alhaji Adedayo Thomas has continued to create new initiatives and interact more with stakeholders.
