1977 law school set marks 40yrs of graduation

MEMBERS of the Nigerian Law School Graduating Class of 1977 have said their upcoming anniversary lecture scheduled to hold, Friday, is to commemorate the important milestone of 40 years since graduation. The lecture titled, “We are Lawyers, We are Judges; Now Justice”, will take place at the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos.

It was gathered that the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School (NLS),  Dr. Olanrewaju Onadeko, SAN, who is also an alumnus of the set, would be the guest lecturer at the event. According to the organizers, between 1977 and now, members of the set have distinguished themselves in the legal profession and other fields of endeavour, contributing to the social and economic development of Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.

“Outside the shores of  Nigeria, Hon Justice Hassan Bubacar Jallow, another alumni of the set was in February 2017 appointed as the Chief Justice of Gambia. He had previously served as Gambia’s Attorney-General and Prosecutor of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (UNICTR),” the organizers stated.

Distinguished personalities expected to be on the panel include another Alumnus of the Set, Prof. Ameze Guobadia of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) and Prof. Akin Oyebode of the University of Lagos (UNILAG). Others are Boma Ozobia- past President of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association and Mr Yomi Orimobi, a legal practitioner and Cambridge University alumna.
