Maritime expert hails promotions in Customs

Following the promotion of about 3,487 officers and men of Nigerian Customs Service, NSC, by the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC, Col Hameed Alli (retd), the Chief Executive Officer Ogbese Marine Services Limited, Dr. Olusegun Ologbese, has commended the CGC’s gesture.

Speaking with journalists in Lagos, Ologbese, who is the President General of Association of Good Leadership Advocates Peace Development, Lagos,  noted that the CGC has done well by promoting Customs officers.

He lauded the CGC for remembering officers who were prematurely retired from the service and those that felt that they were not placed on positions commensurate with their qualifications.

“Indeed there was jubilation all over the sea ports and land border command as a result of the elevations of the Customs officers.”

According to Ologbese, each time a new helmsman is appointed by the government to oversee the maritime sector, their assumptions are always focused on NCS.

“They believe Customs should be looked into to sanitize the service.”
