Addressing newsmen in Asaba, while reacting to the governor’s plan to ban illegal collections, Onuesoke said that collection of illegal dues by communities was scaring away potential investors from the state
He said that it was abnormal for companies or individuals to be asked to pay certain amount of money to communities before being allowed to set up a company or structure in a community, noting that same is fraudulent, retrogressive and not in the best interest of the development of communities.
Onuesoke argued that beside scaring away investors, collection of such illegal dues was responsible thuggery and communal warfare as the communities clash among themselves as they scramble to take control of areas so that they would be in position to collect the illegal dues.
