NSCDC evacuates 104 destitute from Kaduna

*Some street children and destitutes in Aba

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday said it evacuated no fewer than 104 destitute in Kaduna metropolis between March 17 and March 24.
The command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr Orndiir Terzungwe, told the Newsmen in Kaduna that the age of the destitute ranged from Six years to 17 years.

Terzungwe said that those evacuated were initially kept at the State Rehabilitation Centre in Makera, Kaduna South Local Government Area, before final evacuation to Makarfi.

“Those who are from the state have been moved to Makarfi rehabilitation camp in Makarfi Local Government Area, where they will be properly rehabilitated.

“But those that are not from the state will be repatriated to their states of origin.
“We have been able to identify some of them and have returned them back to their states.
“Those repatriated were from Bauchi, Katsina and Kano States, ” he said.

The spokesperson assured that NSCDC personnel would continue to be civil in carrying out the operation, and appealed for cooperation from the general public.
