MANAGING Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr. Nsima Ekere, has advised the people of oil-producing communities in Akwa Ibom State and the entire Niger Delta region to key into the new vision proposed by the Federal Government for the transformation of the region.

He made the appeal in a statement in New York, United States of America, where he was on a Federal Government delegation to the United Nations, UN.

Ekere noted that the Federal Government had started partnering state and local governments, oil companies, private sector and civil society organisations for the benefit of the oil-producing communities.

He described the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s visit to Akwa Ibom State as a huge success, judging from the promises made concerning the extension of amnesty benefits, establishment of modular refineries, power plants, location of a technology hub, Ibaka Deep Seaport, relocation of international oil companies headquarters, the Calabar-Itu-Ikot Ekpene-Aba Road and upgrading of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, to a university status.
