Lagos—Prof Elias Wahab will be delivering the  Lagos State University’s 60th  Inaugural Lecture today  titled: Of growing old and dying well: A gerontologist at work.

The lecture which is expected to attract a large pool of academics from the Lagos State University, other tertiary institutions and members of the public will be chaired by the Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University, Prof. Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun.

Prof. Wahab, a Professor of Sociology, is an accomplished scholar,  who has authored many scholarly essays. He was a recipient of Ford Foundation PhD Scholarship. He has also held many administrative academic positions, namely, Deputy Director LASU JUBEB Foundation Programme; Acting Head of Department of Sociology and former General Nigerian Studies (GNS) Coordinator in the Department of Sociology. He is currently a member of the LASU Senate.

The lecture will be the third in the last one month in the university, with  one delivered by Prof. Ishaq Lakin Akintola of the Department of Religions and peace Studies, Faculty of Arts,  titled, “Oh God What Have We Done? An Eschatological Excursus” and Prof. Lateef Mobolaji Adetona, on  “Dynamics of Islam in Post-Colonial Lagos.”

According to Mr. Adelotan Ayoola, Senior Assistant Registrar (SAR) in the Faculty of Social Sciences, there is a great expectation on the part of members of the public in that “the lecture should serve to change people’s opinion about how to live their lives and be themselves in ways they can live longer.”
