Gov aspirant lists panacea for peace in PDP

By Enyim Enyim

ONITSHA—A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for November 18 governorship election in Anambra State, Dr Alex Obiogbolu, yesterday, said the panacea for peace in the national leadership of the party could only come  if the pockets of crisis in some states were quickly resolved.

Obiogbolu, who spoke with Vanguard, reasoned that an urgent resolution of the crisis at all levels would not only move the party forward but enhance its electoral fortunes in subsequent elections, especially the forthcoming governorship poll in Anambra State.

He said: “The success of  a great Nigeria starts from the states. If the state gets it right, Nigeria will move forward. Therefore, if the two personalities fighting for the leadership of the party at the national level settle their differences without settling the crisis in Anambra State, the problem is still there.”

On the prolonged crisis in the party, Obiogbolu however stated that the crisis has rather had made the PDP stronger.

There is no family without crisis and Anambra state is an exception. Other political parties equally have crisis and crisis is part of human nature

“ For over 10 years l have been in the Vanguard of Anambra state moving forward. l have the believe that once we are united even if we are denied things from the presidency, we can move forward’.

He said the PDP government in the past 16 years showed that governance can be made good, describing as unfortunate the change of government that saw the present All Progressive Congress, APC to power.
