ASIWAJU Bola Ahmed Tinubu practically put the Lagos political scene on a standstill on Tuesday and Wednesday on the occasion of his birthday. Friends and even some former foes were present to honour the man variously described as one of the strongest politicians of his generation.

It was an opportunity for Asiwaju to also give honour to his political mentee, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, who he described as a success beyond expectation.

One notable absentee, however, was the immediate past governor of the state Mr. Babatunde Fashola. Fashola was in the state just the previous week in the course of his inspection of road projects.

Someone said that given recent political undercurrents between benefactor and mentee, that Fashola should have presented himself for the sake of political expediency.
