Owerri—Imo State House of Assembly members have expressed dismay in the way the amnesty programme was carried out, alleging that one of the members of the committee, Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Mr Kingsley Uju, has turned it to a “family business.”

The two lawmakers from the oil producing Local Government Areas, Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta, Mr. Emma Orie and Mr. Henry Ezediaro, respectively, expressed their displeasure particularly on the deputy chief of staff.

Vanguard gathered, yesterday  that the Imo State House of Assembly has received several petitions and protests from youths and stakeholders of Oguta and Ohaji/Egbema, that are grossly marginalized in terms of infrastructural development, unemployment and  environment pollution as a result of oil and gas spillage.

But a reaction  written by Mr. Joe Chimezie, a loyalist to Mr. Kingsley Uju, described the two lawmakers as those who have their constituency offices in  bars and  night clubs.

He also asked them to concentrate on how to deliver dividends of democracy to their people.

As stated in the reply, “Hon. Uju Kingsley, regardless of party affiliations has always recognized and accorded Emma Orie all the necessary respect/support deserving of a lawmaker.

“Whoever knows Emma Orie, should ask him why he is feeling threatened? He should as well tell us where  and when Hon. Uju boasted he was the architect of the amnesty programme ?”
